Heptagon-Containing Saddle-Shaped Nanographenes: Self-Association and Complexation Studies with Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons and Fullerenes

Supramolecular interactions between molecules of the same or different nature determine to a great extent degree their applicability in many fields science. To this regard, planar polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and nanometric congeners, nanographenes (NGs), as well positively curved ones, for instance corannulene, have been extensively explored. However, negatively saddle-shaped NGs remained curiosity date within field. Therefore, here we communicate first systematic study on supramolecular behavior heptagon-containing hexa-peri-hexabenzocoronene analogues. Thus, self-association host–guest complexation processes with both flat PAHs, fullerenes studied by means 1H 13C NMR titrations solution, identifying C70 one guests highest association constant among all ones tested.
